Setting the Standard for Global Health Excellence
The American Board of Global Health (ABGH) is an independent, multidisciplinary certifying body committed to advancing the field of global health through rigorous board certification. As a specialty board under the Global Health & Quality Alliance (GHQA), ABGH offers the Certified in Global Health (CGH) credential for physicians, public health professionals, and leaders driving change in international health systems, health equity, emergency response, and policy innovation.
Unlike short courses or issue-specific certificates, ABGH certification reflects board-level rigor, ethical accountability, and global alignment with frameworks from WHO, CDC, and other international health authorities.
We assess and certify professionals in key global health domains, including:
Global Disease Burden & Epidemiology
Health Systems Strengthening & Policy
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Health Equity, Human Rights, & Ethics
Global Health Informatics & Surveillance
International Health Partnerships & Frameworks
ABGH formally recognizes high-quality global health fellowships, MPH programs, academic courses, and humanitarian fieldwork that meet our rigorous certification standards.
We cultivate a vibrant network of certified global health professionals and provide ongoing support through recertification, learning modules, and access to global best practices.
The ABGH is governed by a board of public health experts, global medicine specialists, educators, policymakers, and global health ethicists dedicated to promoting integrity, transparency, and excellence in global health certification.
